The French Diet |
|
This diet is directed to reducing daily calorie to 1500 kcal from carbohydrates
and fats, while maintaining the protein. It possibly is a nice piece of
advice. This amount of energy provides the basic life processes in the
body, including respiration, the activity of reduced heart muscle, maintain
body temperature at a constant level. But as a man is leading an active
lifestyle and the overall energy consumption exceeds caloric intake, the
body have to compensate the difference at the rate of the stock of fat.
As a result, body weight decreased. Such a diet allows the consumption
of vegetables (except potatoes, the most abundant carbohydrates), fruit
(preferably - in its raw form) to such an extent that their total caloric
content shall not exceed 1,250 calories. It is recommended to take a few
meals a day, but in small portions. The “French” is preferably
allowed not less than a month, and then gradually expand the diet. Some American nutritionists, developing and complementing the “French diet” protein diet, advise to drink to 8-9 cups of distilled water every day. One should drink the water on an empty stomach, a glass half an hour before a bedtime meal. Good advice! Distilled water, in their point of view, acts as a diuretic, because it does not contain any salt, and therefore doesn’t retain in the tissues. |
